Favorite Sites

The San Francisco Symphony Kids' Site teaches the instruments of the orchestra, the basics of reading music, and has an online radio to listen to some classical music's greatest hits.

DSO Kids is the music education site for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and features loads of interactive fun with an instrument encyclopedia, a music listening section and games, too.

Classics For Kids is a radio show with a mission for making classical music fun and engaging. The website archives all of the radio shows and posts a wide variety of activities for parents and teachers.

This year Sheridan fourth graders will spend some time playing with the Cyber-Pattern Player,  a musical game from PBS Kids.

Another fabulous PBS site is Between The Lions  - the online presence for the popular television program designed to support emerging readers.

Sheridan Elementary Sings Across America!

Friday May 7, 2010-Sheridan Elementary Gymnasium

This show will be performed in its entirety at both 9:30am and 1:30pm.

The 9:30am show is for the family of AM Kindergarten, Full Day Kindergarten, 1st, and 3rd graders.

The 1:30pm show is for the family of PM Kindergarten, 2nd, and 4th graders.

Please download and print out your grade level's song packet so you can practice at home!

Did you know Ms. Bohlman is a member of The Skyline String Quartet? Click here to to see if her string quartet would be a good fit for your next party or event.

Mrs. Bohlman is a member of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association which is a professional organization dedicated to the creative teaching approach developed by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman. They are united by the belief that music and movement – to speak, sing and play; to listen and understand; to move and create – should be an active and joyful experience.

TeachersAndFamilies.com is a web resource developed by teachers for students and their parents. The site offers free learning resources for pre-K through high school students. The site emphasizes content for pre-schoolers, special education students, and those who are gifted and talented.

Parents' Choice is the nation's oldest nonprofit guide to quality children's media and toys. The foundation’s purpose is to search out and recommend products that help kids grow – imaginatively, physically, morally and mentally.

Midwest Young Artists is quickly gaining national and international acclaim for the work they do with music students. Young musicians who crave more musical challenge than available through their school music programs thrive at MYA. And MYA is right in our own backyard at Fort Sheridan!

Chicago Parent magazine helps parents stay current with all that is happening in an around Chicago. Be sure to check out the monthly Healthy Finances column written by Lake Forest mom, Susan Beacham. The online publication also archives some, but not all, of the past articles including former Cherokee and Sheridan music teacher, Mr. Koch's music reviews.
